A phone is a stack of parts held by tiny screws and adhesive. Find the one that failed, replace it, and the rest carries on.

Cracked screen

The glass and the display behind it come out as one assembly. A new one goes in and touch is tested corner to corner.

On the bench: heat pad, suction cup, fresh adhesive seal.

Dead by lunchtime

Batteries wear a little with every charge. The old cell comes out, a fresh one goes in, and the phone lasts the day again.

On the bench: pull-tab adhesive, new cell, charge test.

Got wet. Won't turn on.

The logic board is the phone's brain. Under a microscope a technician can clean off corrosion and replace a single failed component.

On the bench: microscope, hot-air station, multimeter.

Blurry or black camera

The camera is a sealed module on a ribbon cable. If it won't focus, shakes or shows black, the module is swapped and tested.

On the bench: ribbon connector, lens check, focus test.

Won't charge

Lint, moisture and worn pins stop a phone charging. Sometimes the port only needs cleaning. Sometimes the port assembly is replaced.

On the bench: port clean, flex cable, charge and data test.

Shattered back

The back panel is glass too. The broken panel is lifted off, a new one is sealed on, and the camera lenses sit flush again.

On the bench: heat, panel removal, new glass and seal.

Back together. Back in your hand.
